Residential Garage

principles: emphasis, unity

Along with the triadic colour scheme of purple, green and orange, all metal surfaces have also been covered with a bright aluminum paint, and the area is well illuminated.

The painter removed all the stickers from the furnace area, the garage doors, and anything else metal in the garage. He then painted all these surfaces with aluminum paint, and then carefully put all the stickers back on, so everything conformed to code.

location: residential garage, Anchorage

Commercial Building, Hallway Focal Point

principles: emphasis, rhythm, scale, proportion

This second floor hallway which leads to various offices, is covered in a combination of porcelain tile and carpet squares. The geometric pattern of the carpet has fun movement to it, and gives visual interest to the space. Commercial wall coverings and Tassoglass (a paintable, fiberglass wall covering) were used to create the wainscoting, and the cherry trim work gives a sleek refinement to the walls.

The Cessna model airplane is the sole piece of art in the building, and its presence is the perfect emphasis for the space. The owners of the building wanted to create an "Alaskan" feeling the minute that you entered the building, and it doesn't get any more Alaskan than by having an 81" wingspan airplane suspended in the air up above.

location: commercial building located at 401 East Fireweed, Anchorage
materials used: industrial carpet squares bordered with porcelain tile, Tasso Glass wallcoverings with cherry accenting
